General Questions

When is the right time to make a will?
It’s essential for nearly every adult to have a Will and to review it every three to five years—or after significant life changes like the birth of a child, the passing of a beneficiary, or purchasing new property. Events like a change in marital status, the loss or arrival of a family member, or shifts in your financial or employment circumstances are all key moments to revisit your Will. If you’re unsure whether
you need to update yours, don’t hesitate to contact our office. We’ll assess your
situation and offer personalized advice with no obligation, ensuring you have the
information to make the best decision.
What is Title Insurance?
Title insurance is a policy designed to safeguard property owners and lenders from financial loss due to issues with a property’s title or ownership. It covers problems like unpaid taxes, fraud, forgery, survey errors, encroachments, zoning violations, and other defects that could impact the property’s ownership. This insurance can be purchased by either the buyer or the lender, usually during the closing stages of
a real estate deal. While not required in Canada, real estate lawyers often suggest
it to protect the buyer or lender’s investment in the property.
